Are you a dedicated hard worker who has an interest in operational and building service work performed in a fun aquatic facility? We have an exciting opportunity for you to be in the center of it all! Our Parks, Recreation and Culture department is actively hiring a Pool Service Worker to assist in a wide variety of tasks to ensure the facility is operating smoothly. A day in the life of this role includes performing checks, adjusting and operating a variety of equipment such as pumps, valves, gauges, chlorinators, heating units, boilers, chlorine tanks, pipes, meters and motors as necessary to ensure the water quality and effective operation of the facility. You will also take part in routine inspection and maintenance of filtration systems, boilers and related pool equipment. On top of assisting with janitorial and custodial duties, you will be responsible in ensuring that the facilities are maintained at an established level of cleanliness and sanitation at all times; setting up tables, chairs and other furniture for scheduled events or activities in the facility and removing them on completion. You will have the opportunity to engage with the public to answer inquiries, provide information and assistance as required. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications include completion of Grade 12 supplemented by technical training and sound related experience in the operation and maintenance of aquatic facility equipment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. You should have considerable knowledge of operating procedures of water heating, boiling, filtration and chlorination equipment, and the methods, practices and materials used in the operation of aquatic facilities as well as those used in building maintenance and repair tasks. Working knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems together with the knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to the work. You should have the ability to understand and follow routine oral and written instructions, work with minimal supervision and deal courteously, tactfully, and firmly with staff, patron and user groups in ensuring observance of facility policies and procedures. A valid Pool Operator Level 1 Certificate is required.

The location of work will be Bonsor Recreation Complex, Eileen Dailly Leisure Pool & Fitness Centre or Edmonds Community Centre.
